The Supreme Court has halted the release of 'Hamare Baarah', citing its offensive teaser. Initially set for June 14, 2024, the film faced suspension following a plea challenging the Bombay High Court's decision to allow its release.
Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta issued the stay while describing the teaser as objectionable, available on YouTube.
Annu Kapoor, part of the film's cast, defended it amid controversy, urging critics to watch the film before forming opinions. He emphasized the role of actors in portraying their characters as envisioned by the filmmakers. Despite the Bombay High Court initially permitting the film's release with modifications to dialogues, concerns over its content persisted. The controversy led to the abrupt removal of the film's trailer from online platforms after its release on May 30.
Additionally, Hamare Baarah faced a ban in Karnataka, reflecting broader concerns about its perceived messaging and impact.
