Sonam and Anand make a controversial decision

Not everyday do we see a woman fighting for her name to remain the same after her wedding but never a mother's name included in her child's name, at least not in India. But wouldn't it be the best gift for a mother to be able to say "my kids have my name in their names", well we think so.

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and her husband has just broken all stereotypes that exist in the Indian Societal system, or at least are trying to do so. But all things aside, we can clearly see, these two have done it only to be happy with their lives and not for anyone else. 

After Sonam’s marriage with Anand Ahuja, the couple changed their Instagram names to Sonam K Ahuja and Anand S Ahuja respectively. Even with all the love the two received  from the adorable and cute moments all over social media, this didn't stop them from being criticised on the same platform for changing their names the "non" traditional way.

Recently, when Sonam was asked concerning the topic, she responded quite confidently saying,

"Anand and I had a very long conversation you know, and we obviously want to have kids eventually, and he had this one friend who had a very long name, his mother’s name, father’s name, blah blah blah. I said, see anyways it’s a patriarchal concept, I have my father’s last name, I don’t have my mother’s name, and I want to be part of your family as well, and he wanted to be a part of mine. So first he said, shall I do Anand Ahuja Kapoor or Anand Kapoor Ahuja? And you do Sonam Kapoor Ahuja? I was like, that’s still my father’s name, no? How will my kids have my name in some way? Then he said, should I keep Sonam in the middle? So I said fine.”

Explaining it further,

So first he said, shall I do Anand Ahuja Kapoor or Anand Kapoor Ahuja? And you do Sonam Kapoor Ahuja? I was like, that’s still my father’s name, no? How will my kids have my name in some way? Then he said, should I keep Sonam in the middle? So I said fine.”

Bringing in their future kids, Sonam has even more to say on the topic, considering she only recently got married. But she went on anyway when asked the name her children will be carrying, she said, 

"Yes. I don’t know if that makes any sense to you, but we really thought about it. If and when we have children, that’s how it will be.”

Even though it may not make sense to a majority of people right now, we know one thing for sure, and that is that we think it is amazing that a famous celebrity couple has come up with a method to push away stereotypes even further.
