Simmba is a Hindi movie directed by Rohith Shetty. Ranveer Singh will be seen playing a cop, Sangram Bhalerao, in the action flick 'Simmba'. The film is co-produced by Karan Johar. According to reports, the film is a remake of Jr NTR's film 'Temper'. 

Rohit Shetty is well-known as the king of action films in Bollywood, most of his films are filled with high-octane action and funny sequences. But this time in Simmba, it seems like a war cry for getting justice for the infamous rapes like Nirbhaya and Ashifa.

Set in Shivgadh, Maharashtra which happens to be the hometown of Bajirao Singham. In the same place, Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh) is born. Sangram is born rebel right from the childhood, who wants everything to be quick in his own way. He wants to get everything by hook or by crook.

Years later, he becomes a police officer and arrests a bunch of goons who tend to harass his tutor and then he saves him by arresting them. He becomes a bad cop who is quite infamous for taking bribes and making friendships with shady people. He then gets transferred to Goa where he is posted as the senior inspector of the police station. He starts having his own way for everything by letting the criminals away and making friends with Dhruva Ranade (Sonu Sood), a local gang honcho. The only one in the police department will be Santosh Tawde (Siddharth Jadhav) who will be honest to his duty despite his lowly status.

Sangram befriends an NGO worker Shagun (Sara Ali Khan) who happens to run a shelter home for dogs and he tries to impress her in different ways which turn out to be quite devilish. Everything changes when the girl whom he befriended in police station gets raped and murdered by Dhruva’s men. This brings a change in Sangram’s attitude and decides to fight for what’s right.

After his Singham series, Rohit Shetty has taken the story of 2015 superhit flick Temper and added his own elements in it. The talking point of the movie is Ranveer Singh who plays his part very well and he is the new age superstar which most of us have to look out for. Sara Ali Khan blends perfectly in her part as well, despite the role being a little short. But she does well when she partners up with the girl gang to fight against the rapists. 

Marathi actor Siddharth Jadhav is the applause-worthy choice in the film, he speaks his lines very well despite comedy being his genre the whole time. Ashutosh Rana is seen for the first time playing a supporting role in this flick, he has definitely shed his negative persona in this film.

The surprise elements include characters from the Golmaal Franchise and of course Ajay Devgn who makes a special comeback with his Aata Majhi Satakli style. We might expect a Singham universe when Ranveer and Ajay join hands together.

The songs are quite good especially Aankh Maare and Mera Wala Dance which will be needing some whistles if played on a loudspeaker. I was actually expecting a powerful title song but this seemed a little feeble for me.

Addressing the issue of sexual violence in the movie is quite commendable and kudos to director for that. The director has manipulated these sequences in such a way that we tend to feel for the characters undergoing the pain.

Overall, the film is packed with Rohit Shetty’s usual formula but with a message for stopping the number of rapes happening in the country. Looks like after Singham, Simmba is another film to come out for bringing the goodness in the police force.
