Ranbir Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra-starrer Animal will release on Dussehra 2022.

Ranbir Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra-starrer Animal will hit the theatres on Dusshera in 2022. The makers announced the same today. The film will be directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who helmed Shahid Kapoor's, Kabir Singh. Animal has been creating quite a buzz ever since it was announced. Now, with the release date announcement, the film has once again raised curiosity among cine-goers.

The makers of Animal shared the film's announcement video on January 1, 2021. In the video, we hear Ranbir Kapoor's voiceover talking about his relationship with his father. He says, "Papa, agle janam mein aap mera beta banna. Fir dekhna main aapko kaise pyaar karta hun aur sikhna aap. Kyunki uske agle janam mein vapis main beta aur aap papa. Tab na papa, apni tarah se pyaar karna, meri tarah se nahi. Aap samajh rahe ho na papa? Bas aap samajh lo toh kafi hai."

Ranbir's dialogue in the announcement video suggests his character's troubled relationship with his father. By the end of the video, the sound of gunshots can be heard. It seems Anil Kapoor will play Ranbir's father in this intense crime drama.

Animal boasts of a stellar cast. The film is headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Parineeti Chopra. A source told Filmfare that Animal makers were impressed with Tripti Dimri's audition tape and she has also joined the film's starcast. "They thought she would bring that freshness to the character and a young appeal,” the source told the website.

Ranbir is likely to play an intense, dark character in Animal. This role will be different from Ranbir's past roles, where he was majorly seen playing a boy-next-door character in romantic flicks. Going by Ranbir's intense dialogue in the film's announcement video, it seems his character will come with many layers.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga earlier helmed Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer Kabir Singh. The film was a massive hit but received a lot of flak from the critics and a certain section of the audience for glorifying toxic behaviour and misogyny. Sandeep now has the pressure to deliver a hit like Kabir Singh but do right with the messaging of the film.
