Paltan Movie Review: A Failed Attempt In Creating Another Border
Published On: 07 September 2018 | Bollywood | By: Rohan M
Paltan is a comeback film of the veteran director JP Dutta who was famous for making films like Border and LOC Kargil. This film is the third one in his war film series.
Bollywood has been famous for making a lot of patriotic films for a very long time, some films have been motivating and some were dealing with other countries bashing. Paltan tries hard in entering the coveted list of the patriotic films but fails miserably.

The basic plot of the film involves around the Chinese army gaining their forces and are in a desire to capture the Nathula region and then most of us expect that there is going to a bloody fight with guns blazing, multiple explosions and emotional moments which is required for a war film. Sadly, the action sequences in the film turn out to be more than just some local street fight which most of us have been seeing all our lives.
The cast of the film seems alright especially Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood and Gurmeet Chaudhary playing the Indian Army Soldiers in the film. The actress Sonal Chauhan, Esha Gupta, Dipika Kakkar and Monica Gill who play the wives of the soldiers are given limited screen space in the film.
The screenplay of the film seems like JP Dutta has made a prequel to Border and for god's sake, it is 2018 we need some new kind of war films like the Indian Army's peacekeeping missions in third-world countries or the surgical strikes which was a retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack.
The film seems quite promising with the premise but it fails miserably on the silver screen. If you literally feel like watching a patriotic film, you can binge watch some of the iconic patriotic films of the past which can be watched again and again.
