Nitishastra: A Modern Day Mahabarath Message

When most of us hear news of crimes happening against women ranging from rapes, sexual assault, dowry deaths, acid attacks, molestation and stalking. Most of the Indians don't care about it. But there are a handful who seriously feel that this can be stopped.

The latest short film Nitishastra, starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead role, which includes a very important message which connects to Mahabharata which denotes that in the war of righteousness and justice, one must sacrifice things for the greater good.

Since the release, the short film has brought about controversies and doubts in the minds of people as it brings to light the decisions one must make and to what length one would go to serve justice and righteousness.

The short story brings the audience to a place of examining what they would do if they were in the situation of the sister in the film. A situation that would test their beliefs and views on their take on justice.

In the recent past, India as a country has witnessed the gruesome reality of the plight of women. As women all over India stand together to fight for justice that must come down on offenders and perpetrators, they now ask themselves if they would take justice into their own hands considering that the offenders were their own kin,

After watching the movie, I was choked because of the sacrifices the sister always have to make for the sake of the family. Mostly, many of us have been stereotyped into believing that boys are the only breadwinners in the family, but in this the girl is the breadwinner of the family and stands up for what's right. This movie is must watch for everyone.
