"Manikarnika" is releasing this week ! The Kangana Ranaut starrer has garnered much Buzz because of the Women-Centric Period Drama Subject, which is so rare! Coincidentally last year "Padmavat" released to great success on same date. will Manikarnika's Success forge way for more High Budget Women centric films in Bollywood ?
Women- Centric films have Been made previously but the scale at which these films are being made in recent times is definitely an upgrade, Manikarnika is one such unique movie. But, that doesn't guarantee Movie's success. Manikarnika's success will surely pave way for many more such attempts, but to be so the movie has to reach perfection in all 24 crafts of filmaking. lets checkout what else the "Manikarnika" has, to offer for movie-goers :
Fine Detailing : while watching the trailer you should be wondering why this movie gives Bajirao Mastani vibes. Both movies have same prodcution designers Sujeeth and Sriram, but that's not the reason why the movie set in Jhansi & Gwalior would feature so much Marathi-culture ? That’s because Manikarnika was a Marathi herself, even though she was born in Banaras. (Also, 80% of us didnt knew Rani laxmibai was also known as Manikarnika )
Saw the Marathi Saree draping style ? expecting more such attention to details in movie.
Emotionally-packed, Gripping Storytelling : The Story and screenplay are written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad (of "Baahubali" Series and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" fame), Down south he has an impecable record of Blockbusters and his brilliance lies in Narrating Emotions. Whereas, Dialogues are penned by Prasoon joshi (of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" and "Rang de Basanti" fame ). Director credits are Shared between Krish (of "Gabbar is back" and "kanche" fame ) and Kangana Ranaut,
Okay-ish VFX : As far as the trailer is concerned, we can easily make out scenes where VFX is used and that kills the purpose of VFX. if we could just ignore scenes where VFX fails, as the movie doesn't much bank upon them, then it wont be a problem. The war sequences would be interesting to watch as the core of the movie lies in 1857 rebellion , if VFX in those sequences went well then there is nothing much to worry about !
Tiger from the trailer !!
