Lukka Chupi Vs Sonchiriya : What to Expect from both films

With Luka Chuppi, Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon are set to tickle your funny bone.  The film also happens to be their first onscreen collaboration. The rom-com also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Vinay Pathak.  Kriti and Pankaj have previously shared screen space in Bareilly Ki Barfi. On the other hand, Pankaj and Aparshakti starred together in last year’s Stree.

It is helmed by debutant director Laxman Utekar. Utekar has been a cinematographer for films like Dear Zindagi, English Vinglish and 102 Not Out. He was also the DOP for Hindi Medium, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, and Blue.

Set in Mathura, Luka Chuppi is a romantic comedy that follows a television reporter who falls in love with a headstrong woman.

Sonchiriya is set in the 1970s and is based on a small town that was dominated by dacoits, as they fought for territorial power. The film was shot in Madhya Pradesh. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Pendekar as lead pair, the film also stars Manoj Bajpayee Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. 

Sonchiriya would be an intense action Drama with Satirical dark humor.

Director Abhishek Chaubey (of Udta Punjab, ishqiya fame) describes the movie in a promotional interview as,

The story is about finding your inner sonchiriya, a common name for women in the area, which is a beautiful and rare bird. It is also called the Great Indian bustard, and conservationists are worried about its endangerment. In Chambal, you will see Sonchiriya Hotel, Sonchiriya Guest House, and so on. It also means the golden bird, which was also what India was called long time ago.In the context of the film, finding one’s sonchiriya means finding inner truth. These bandits lead a hard life in a harsh, unforgiving, dry landscape. They believe they have a reason to be on this earth, which can be protecting their community or caste or not living by the law of the oppressors. They call themselves baaghi, or rebels, because of their chosen path. The film is about them questioning that path.
