Kangana Ranaut's Emergency Receives U/A Certification, Release Date Still Pending: Report

Kangana Ranaut's Emergency has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), but its release date remains unconfirmed.

The film, which portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's emergency period from 1975 to 1977, has been cleared with conditions. The CBFC has requested the addition of disclaimers regarding historical events and the removal of certain scenes.

The film faced delays and criticism from Sikh organizations over its depiction of the Sikh community, which contributed to its postponed release. Initially scheduled for November 24, 2023, and later for September 6, 2024, the release has been pushed further. Kangana, who stars as Indira Gandhi and has also directed and written the film, shared earlier this month that they are still awaiting final certification.

Emergency also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in significant roles.
