Kaalakaandi is a black comedy cum thriller directed by ‘Delhi Belly’ scripter Akshat Verma. The film is based on peculiar events that happen in one night. Kaalakaandi is a Marathi slang which means ‘when everything goes disastrously wrong’. The Plot: The movie is based on the lives of six Mumbaikars who intersect on a crossroad, with one breathing his last. Rileen played by Saif Ali Khan, who has never touched alcohol or tobacco in his life is diagnosed with stomach cancer. He learns that he just has a month or 2 to live. He decides to change his life and try out everything to live the life that he was secretly craving in. The second story is about a couple played by Kunal Roy Kapur and Shobhita Dhulipala, where the girl plans to leave for US for higher studies and the boy is not happy with the decision. They plan to attend a birthday party before she leaves, and things change from there. The third story played by Vijay Raaz and Deepak Dobriyal is about courier boys who fight for a goon and aspire to be a big shot in ‘crime world’. What happens when all of them who are not related to each other meet forms the crux of the story.
