The film stars Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role and is being directed by Siddharth Sengupta.
A group of farmers halted the shoot of Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Good Luck Jerry in Patiala, Punjab, on late Saturday (January 23) evening. The shoot of the film was going on at Bhupindra Road, Patiala.
A group of farmers reached the shoot location and demanded to stop the film shoot. The members of Good Luck Jerry team tried to talk to the farmers. However, when they could not reach a conclusion, the entire team of the film headed back to Neemrana Hotel.
The group of farmers reached the hotel as well and chanted slogans until the police came and assured them that the shoot of the film had stopped. The farmers then said that since nobody from the film industry has stepped forward and given a statement in their support yet, they will not allow any film to be shot in Punjab until the farm laws are abolished. Next week, superstar Salman Khan is expected to reach Patiala for the film's shoot.
This is not the first time that the shoot of Good Luck Jerry has been stopped in Patiala. On January 11, a group of farmers had gathered at Bassi Pathana city and halted the shoot of the film. They had further demanded the actress's opinion on the farmers' protest. However, the group was dispersed by the movie crew as they pledged support for the protest.
After the shoot was disrupted on January 11, Janhvi Kapoor had issued a statement on her Instagram story supporting farmers. She wrote, "Farmers are at the heart of our country. I recognise and value the role that they play in feeding our nation. I hope a resolution is reached soon that benefits the farmers (sic)."
Good Luck Jerry is being directed by Siddharth Sengupta and produced by Aanand L Rai. The film is the Hindi adaptation of the 2018 Tamil film Kolamavu Kokila, starring Nayanthara. Janhvi Kapoor will be seen reprising the role played by Nayanthara in the original but in a different setting. The film also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Mita Vashisth, Neeraj Sood and Sushant Singh in pivotal roles.
