The initial part of the trailer adds a comedic touch as Hardy and his friends grapple with learning English, a prerequisite for their immigration ambitions. However, the tone shifts as they embark on their journey, traversing desolate landscapes on foot while facing threats from border patrols. Towards the conclusion, an elderly Hardy narrates his epic tale, stating, "We left home out of necessity," and closes with a patriotic 'Jai Hind.'
Dunki also features Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover. Rajkumar Hirani, renowned for films like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and 3 Idiots, co-wrote the screenplay with his longtime collaborator Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon. This collaboration marks Hirani's first venture with Shah Rukh Khan, who has enjoyed a remarkable year with the success of Pathaan and Jawan.
