Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh shocked fans during his Chandigarh concert by announcing he will not perform in India until the country improves its live show infrastructure. The statement, which quickly went viral through videos on social media, came as Dosanjh nears the end of his groundbreaking Dil-Luminati Tour.
Speaking to the crowd in Punjabi, Dosanjh remarked, “We don’t have the proper infrastructure for live shows here. Many livelihoods depend on this industry. Until the situation improves, I won’t perform in India again.” He also suggested adopting 360-degree stages surrounded by audiences for a more immersive concert experience.

The Dil-Luminati Tour, launched in Vancouver on April 27, 2024, set records with 54,000 attendees at BC Place Stadium, the largest-ever audience for a Punjabi artist outside India. The tour’s European leg saw him become the first South Asian artist to perform three consecutive shows at London’s O2 Arena.
The India leg, covering New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, will conclude with shows in Mumbai (December 19) and Guwahati (December 29).
Dosanjh also paid tribute to India’s FIDE World Chess Champion Gukesh Dommaraju during the Chandigarh concert. While the tour faced minor controversies, its overwhelming success underscores Dosanjh’s global appeal.
