Bell Bottom: Akshay Kumar starrer is slated to release on May 28

The release date of Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom is out. The film will release on May 28, 2021, in theatres. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta and Adil Hussain in lead roles. It is directed by Ranjit M Tewari.

Revealing the news on Twitter, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "AKSHAY KUMAR: #BELLBOTTOM RELEASE DATE FINALISED... #BellBottom - starring #AkshayKumar as #RAW agent - to release in *cinemas* on 28 May 2021... Bell Bottom became the first major Bollywood film to start and finish shooting during coronavirus pandemic. The cast and crew of the film went to the UK to shoot the film in August 2021 and finished it on September 30.

Talking about finishing the film during the coronavirus pandemic, Akshay Kumar said, "It's teamwork and I am grateful to each and every member of the cast and crew, from the spot dadas to the light dadas to the technicians to the make-up dadas to my lovely heroines Vaani, Lara, Huma, my director Ranjit and to Vashuji and the production team who believed in our audacious plan. The new normal has made us realise a different way of working that none of us could have imagined. I hope this encourages film industries globally to do what they do best and start entertaining audiences again. I hope our shoot during the pandemic reassures others that keeping all safety in mind it’s time to get things moving again.”

Bell Bottom is a spy thriller. Akshay Kumar will play the role of a RAW agent in the film. It is based on the plane hijacks that took India by a storm in the early 1980s. Lara Dutta will essay the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was in power at that time. Vaani will play Akshay's wife in the film.
