Review

An official remake of a Spanish movie 'The invisible Guest', Badla is almost an exact rip of the original except for the modification made to fit the gender swap of characters in this version.

Thrillers are a risky genre these days, with audiences getting smarter day-by-day and internet, it's too hard to hide a hard-hitting secret till the climax, also given the speculation around the movie begins from the trailer release itself. Hence we see very few offerings of thrillers these days and added success of 'Kahani' series expectations are very high from a Sujoy Ghosh film.

Though Badla is a tale of revenge, it also underplots deceptions like when we narrate our version of an incident how we manipulate facts to make ourselves look good. The movie is enjoyable and intriguing till you get to know how the revenge is taken, i.e. climax. You may call it cinematic liberty or believable lies, But it's bit difficult to digest if it can happen for real. If you can get on board with that then Badla is a treat to watch.

The performances are good and to the point, with most of the screentime taken by Amitabh and Tapsee. Tapsee's portrayal makes you suspect her character from the Beginning itself, perhaps that didn't well good the film. whereas Amitabh Bachchan did complete justice to his Character.

Dialogues are edgy and are well written, some dialogues may turn into quotes as well. Music is mostly BGM and not that remarkable but okayish.

Overall the movie seems good and I would pay ₹200- ₹225 for a ticket.
