'Once upon a time in Hollywood' had a grand premiere at Cannes and has garnered rave reviews.
Amidst of Once upon a time in Hollywood premiered in Cannes. The makers of the film just dropped its new trailer.
The trailer has all the traits of a Tarantino film with racy action, witty dialogues, glamourized violence, and non-linear narrative.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in lead roles as a has-been star and his stunt double, respectively, the film is slated for a July release.
As the name suggests, this film is set in Hollywood and shows the golden era of Hollywood during the late ’60s.
The trailer has a glimpse which has movie references such as Al Pacino’s character gun firing sequence reminds you of Scarface.
Another sequence - which seems to be a film within a film - apparently references Tarantino’s own Inglourious Basterds.
Set in 1969 Hollywood, the film is said to be structured in the fashion of Pulp Fiction, with numerous intersecting storylines, including that of actor Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), who was murdered by members of the Charles Manson ‘family’.
Tarantino ahead of the Cannes premiere wrote a letter urging fans to not spoil the ending of the film, which is said to be quite shocking. “I only ask that everyone avoids revealing anything that would prevent later audiences from experiencing the film in the same way. Thank you,” he wrote on Instagram. Fans have wondered if the film is another of Tarantino’s revisionist tales - like Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained - and have theorized if Sharon Tate survives in his version of events.
Besides Pitt and DiCaprio, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also stars Margot Robbie, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, Dakota Fanning, and several others.
