Avengers Endgame has become the second most successful movie in the world of all time after beating 1997 blockbuster Titanic.

Hollywood maverick filmmaker James Cameron congratulated the Avengers Endgame team for beating his film Titanic’s collection to emerge has the second top money spinner in the box office.

James Cameron tweeted a picture of the Titanic sinking into the ocean after hitting the Avenger’s logo. “To Kevin (Feige, producer) and everyone at Marvel, an iceberg sank the real Titanic. It took the Avengers to sink my Titanic. Everyone here at Lightstorm Entertainment salutes your amazing achievement. You’ve shown that the movie industry is not only alive and well, but it’s also bigger than ever,” he wrote in his tweet.

James Cameron’s appreciation for a Marvel movie comes as a big surprise considering how he has previously shown his disapproval for superhero movies. “I’m hoping we’re going to start getting Avenger fatigue. Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on, guys, there are other stories to tell besides, you know, hypogonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process.”

Endgame has collected $2.2 billion in less than two weeks of its release. Titanic’s lifetime collections were $2.1 billion. Avengers is expected to eclipse Avatar, currently standing at $2.78 billion.

Recently, James Cameron has announced his upcoming movie Avatar 2 release date which is on December 2021.
