‘Ford v Ferrari’ Movie Trailer: Matt Damon and Christian Bale brings greatest car racing rivalry to the silver screen.
This period drama is directed by James Mangold which is based on the real incident of two car manufacturer giant Ford and Ferrari turning the racing track onto a battlefield.
Ford v Ferrari is the upcoming action biographical drama which showcases two determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby (Matt Demon) and his British driver, Ken Miles (Christian Bale), who are dispatched by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca with the mission of building from scratch the Ford GT40, a new racing car with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France.
The corporate rivalry is positioned as a “war” by Henry Ford II (Tracy Letts). The Rolling Stones song Gimme Shelter, which was originally composed in 1969 as a critical response to the Vietnam War, plays without irony in the background as the Americans and British prepare to show the Italians their place.
While during the production of the film a controversy emerged that the makers 20th Century Fox wiped all evidence of the source material and erased the author A.J Baime’s credit from the production whose novel Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans (2010) the film is based on.
Ford v. Ferrari will be released on November 15 and is being positioned as a favorite for the 2020 Oscars. Director James Mangold’s credits include Walk the Line (2005), 3:10 to Yuma (2007), Knight and Day (2010) and Logan (2017).
