Dark Phoenix Trailer Decode: Unleash Your Power

A movie that we all have been waiting for has finally released it's trailer. Dark Phoenix has always been a movie that we have expected to be brilliant. X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been a long time coming thanks to extensive re shoots and a delay from November 2018 into the early months of 2019.

The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse return in director Simon Kinberg's movie to adapt the classic 'Dark Phoenix Saga', in which Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) is corrupted by the power of a cosmic entity called the Phoenix. The trailer sees Xavier (James McAvoy) trying to help a young Jean overcome her powers, while Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) chastises him for lying to the young mutant.

Unsurprisingly, Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Jessica Chastain's mysterious Smith are encouraging Jean to free her Dark Phoenix powers.

X-Men: The Last Stand – probably the least-liked movie in the series – (in)famously made its own attempt to bring the story to the big screen, with disastrous results.

Nevertheless it seems Dark Phoenix will draw on The Last Stand's version of the story, as it appears that Charles is once again somehow involved in suppressing the Dark Phoenix personality in Jean, even as she grows up.

"What did you do?" says Mystique. 

"I protected her–" replies Charles.

"From the truth," interrupts Mystique. "There's another word for that"

The trailer give emphasis on the fact that it was all Charles fault that Jean has become evil or on the quest to become even more powerful for the wrong reasons.

Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Evan Peters will also return for the latest instalment of the movie, with Chastain joining them as a villain.
