'Avatar: The Way of Water' trailer unveiled

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, 'Avatar: The Way of Water'  begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Starring stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet, the film arrives in theatres on December 16, 2022.

'Avatar 3', 'Avatar 4' and 'Avatar 5' are currently in the works. While the third part of the franchise has now been delayed till 20 December 2024, parts 4 and 5 are slated to hit the screens in 2026 and 2028.

Cameron said at an event that he had first envisioned two sequels but after meeting with the screenwriters, artists and designers, he realised that he had too much material for just two films.
