Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Movie Review: Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven opens with Raghunanthan (Nasser, in a role that he could do in his sleep), a rich businessman in Madrid, telling his grandson Adhi (STR) that he wishes to reunite with his daughter Nandhini (Ramya Krishnan, in a role that turns out to be underwhelming because of the writing), whom he had driven out of their home for marrying a man (Prabhu, who performs this role in the same vein in which he uttered the now infamous “Enna Koduma Saravanan Idhu” line in Chandramukhi) of her choice 20 years ago. So, Adhi comes to India and ingratitaes himself into Nandhini’s household as Raja, a driver. How the young man convinces his aunt to forgive her father and reunite with her family forms the plot. Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven is strictly for Simbu fans. The actor does everything possible to make this shallow film work. Simbu, undoubtedly, has a commanding screen presence. But that doesn’t suffice. Also, an appeal to him —‘vantha Rajavaa varardhu mukkiyam illa, nalla padathoda vaanga’. Read full review

In Sundar C’s Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven (I will come like a king), Nasser plays the founder-chairman of a company worth gazillions of rupees. He’s based in Europe. He eats breakfast like a European, with a fork and knife. But his heart is all Indian. It yearns for the daughter (Nandini, played by Ramya Krishnan) he banished from his house when she married a lawyer (Prabhu) who wasn’t worth gazillions of rupees. Read full review
