The tale begins with Zafira (Fatima Sana Sheikh) whose life comes to a standstill when all her ancestral wealth and her fortress has been captured by the Britishers in the pretext of offering friendship. Her only confidante in this difficult time is Khudabaksh (Amitabh Bachchan) who is like a robin hood to his clan and a threat to the East India Company. Zafira and Khudabaksh become a tag team and decide to loot every ship which enters India from the United Kingdom. The East India Company officer John Clive (Lloyd Owen) is overwhelmed by the attacks and conjures up a plan to neutralise the threat. He strikes up a conversation with Firangi (Aamir Khan), a small-time thug from Awadh and asks him to become a mole in Khudabaksh's army of bandits. Then becomes the battle between the hunter and the hunted. Thugs of Hindostan is an Indian Hindi-language period action-adventure film, written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya.
