bhishek Chaubey has done it again. Sonchiriya is gritty, engaging, haunting, disturbing and highly entertaining. Abhishek Chaubey takes a complete detour from the fields of Punjab in Udta Punjab to the ravines of Chambal in Sonchiriya. The movie may be set in the heartland but it has been shot stylistically. Since we have grown up on the dramatic depiction of dacoits in Hindi cinema, the footsteps and the campy introductory music are sure to echo in our ears nonetheless. But then the camera shifts its focus to the flies hovering around a dead snake, and we know that Chaubey will debunk every myth we have been fed about dacoit dramas. Read full review
