Shahu Chhatrapati is a Marathi historical drama movie directed by Varrun Sukhraj. The movie is said to be based on the life and work of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, a king who has a place of honour and pride in the history of Maharashtra and the country.During the British rule, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj fought for justice for the ryots and for the upliftment of the Bahujan Samaj,and played an important role in the upliftment of the Dalit and backward classes despite the opposition of the Sanatanis.
