Not long ago, there was a time in the Malayalam film industry, when soft porn adult films were doing well in Kerala and main stream Malayalam cinema was in desperate need of a blockbuster. Newbie director Vinu Joseph's Rosapoo tells the story of Shahjahan (Biju Menon), a failed businessman and his friends, who decide to make an adult film as a shortcut to richdom. Shajahan's friend Banu (Basil Joseph), an MBA graduate advises him on new business ideas, one after the other. Banu is the one who directs Shajahan and his buddy Ambrose (Neeraj Madhav), who always dreamt of becoming a director, to the soft porn industry. There was a movie named Matinee that released a few years back which tried to focus on the backstory of those people who were involved in the making of soft porn adult films which ruled our industry around the year 2000. Rosapoo starring Biju Menon and Neeraj Madhav in main roles along with Anjali, is a film that has an intention to address that phase. But director Vinu Joseph has tried to package it as an entertainer and thus this film becomes a suffocated comedy that doesn’t excite us at all. Read full review
