The film plays out more like a two-and-a-half hour Balaji soap of yore rather than a feature, complete with multiple flashbacks et all. With stereotypical, kohl-eyed mullahs shown as villains, the subject of it trivialises the sensitive subject of triple talaq. If this was supposed to be a feminist flick, the makers have gotten the concept mixed up. A character like Rasheed’s mother, who does not accept Naaz at first because she marries her son when she is pregnant, only accepts her when Naaz delivers a baby boy. Read full review
