Mahanati is a biographical drama written and directed by Nag Ashwin. The story of the film is based on the life of South Indian actress Savitri. The film is a Telugu-Tamil bilingual, titled in the latter language as Nadigayar Thilagam. The film features Keerthy Suresh as Savitri,Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan,Samantha Ruth Prabhu as Jamuna,Prakash Raj as Aluri Chakrapani and Shalini Pandey as journalist.The film explains how Savitri became first female superstar from a penniless origin.
