Mahanati is an upcoming multilingual Indian biographical film written directed by Nag Ashwin, based on the life of South Indian actress Savitri. Starring Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha and Vijay Deverakonda in the lead roles, the film is a Telugu-Tamil bilingual. The film is titled Mahanati in Telugu. The bilingual began production during May 2017. Keerthy Suresh plays the lead role of Savitri while Dulquer Salmaan is portraying the character of Gemini Ganesan. Samantha Akkineni plays a journalist while Akkineni Naga Chaitanya will be portraying his late grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The film also stars Tollywood star Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini Pandey and Prakash Raj in prominent roles.
