You might argue that Incredibles 2 doesn’t break any new ground or deliver the high notes of classic Pixar sequels like Toy Story 3 or Finding Dory. That may be true. But it’s still consistently enjoyable, and a notch above so many live action superhero films today. Read full review

Brad Bird’s Incredibles 2 is, much like its predecessor, delightful as an animated feature but really, really delightful as a superhero picture. It’s proof that someone (not anyone, mainly Bird) can make a Marvel-type movie that’s fleet and shapely, with action sequences rich in style rather than tumult. Read full review

It’s not enough to sink the picture, thankfully. Genius prevails. And perhaps for the first time, I found myself wanting some origin stories, especially for one hero who looks like a pensioner. His skill is to vomit lava. He introduces himself as “Reflux – superpower or medical condition, you decide!” More of this, please, and on the double. Read full review
