Desakkaaran is a Malayalam drama movie directed by Dr Ajaykumar Babu starring Dr Ajaykumar Babu and Pathmaa Gopika in the lead roles.Aswathi, a PhD scholar researching folklore in Northern Malabar, travels to Thechikkad village, known for the Thirayattam art form. She uncovers the tale of Kannaperuvannan, a Thira ritual artist oppressed by a cruel landlord, which led to his departure and the village's misfortune. When the temple authorities realize the village is cursed and only Kannaperuvannan's lineage can save them, they convince his reluctant son to take up the role. Aswathi captures the rebirth of the Desakkaran on film, and her thesis presentation is celebrated for reviving the village's lost heritage through this stunning art form.
