Blackmail (2018) is a black comedy drama film directed by Abhinay Deo. The film has Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari in lead roles along with Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh and Omi Vaidya. Irrfan Khan plays the character of a middle class married man Dev, who lands in trouble after committing a huge mistake. How he manages to come out of the situation forms the crux of the story. The Plot: Dev Kaushal (Irrfan), an average middle-class man who works as a Toilet Paper salesperson decides to reach home early from work to spice up his otherwise boring and mundane life by taking a bunch of red roses to his wife. To his surprise, he finds his wife with another man in the bed. Instead of resisting them, he decides to blackmail them. What follows up next is a series of events that are both funny and scandalous.

Review: The middle-class man is a victim of his own circumstances. He lives a life of submission, so much so, that when presented with a situation of conflict, like Dev, he struggles to commit a crime of passion. He resigns to his fate, or so it would seem. Blackmail takes this concept and gives it an uproariously good twist. It takes the common man’s daily dilemmas and puts an intriguing spin on things like EMIs, loans and failing relationships.
