ikhilmanjoo Lingegowda is associated with films that usually get a lot of critical acclaim. With this film, he managed to convince Raghavendra Rajkumar to make a comeback to films. Raghavendra's strong bond with his mother, Parvathamma Rajkumar, is well known by Kannada film audiences, and this film tries to replicate a similar sentiment on screen. The fact that someone dealt with a subject like this, where one's relationship with the mother shifts from being the nurtured to the nurturer, needs to be appreciated. It is about a physically challenged person who was abandoned by his father as a child, and later his mother who brings him up against all odds. The grown up Rajeeva, portrayed by Raghavendra Rajkumar puts up an impressive performance and most importantly makes it look natural. His real life physical condition and the special bond he shared with his mother Parvathamma Rajkumar, helps him to turn Rajeeva into a believable character. Read full review

Ammana Mane could not have gotten a better release date than Women’s Day, for the movie revolves around the three most important women in the hero’s life – mother, wife and daughter. This comeback film of veteran star Raghavendra Rajkumar had upped the ante with its intriguing trailer. However, the makers had sent a clear message that this would be an engaging, meaningful film and not a commercial potboiler for entertainment lovers. The film stands by it. Read full review
