Allu Ramendran is a wholesome family entertainer by debutant Bilahari. Kunchacko Boban, who plays the policeman Ramendran, is determined to find who gave him the nickname ‘Allu’, so that he can put a stop to people calling him that. Though the first half had ingredients of comedy, the second half gets bogged down with the drama. The director build a plot on Ramendran’s nickname but sometimes it deviates from the focus; a football match, for example, is shown for no real reason. Malayalam movie industry has been blessed with so many young directors recently and Bilahari is the latest addition to the lot. Bilahari’s Allu Ramendran had fetched the attention of film lovers quickly due to its intriguing title and the looks of Kunchacko Boban. The songs and the trailer were received well, which raised hopes of a good entertainer from Bilahari and team. Read full review

In the recent Kunchako Boban Cinematic Universe of indistinguishable characters and plots, the movie Allu Ramendran will definitely be a different experience. It is not in the list of one more Kunchako Boban movie which you will say with a sigh. Having said, this movie from debutante Bilahari isn’t completely convincing. The cat and mouse theme felt like a tad short in terms of intensity, making the movie land in a less exciting place. Read full review
