Bio:
Soubin Shahir, born on October 12, 1983, is a prominent figure in Indian cinema, particularly Malayalam films, serving as both an actor and director. He embarked on his cinematic journey in 2003 as an assistant director, collaborating with various acclaimed directors. In 2013, he ventured into acting, debuting with a supporting role in "Annayum Rasoolum". His directorial debut came with the drama "Parava" in 2017.
Shahir's breakthrough as an actor came with his role in Alphonse Putharen's "Premam" (2015), where he portrayed a PT teacher, earning him widespread recognition. He further solidified his reputation with notable performances in films such as "Charlie" (2015), "Maheshinte Prathikaaram" (2016), "Kali" (2016), "Darvinte Parinamam" (2016), "Kammatipaadam" (2016), "Anuraga Karikkin Vellam" (2016), "Mayanadhi" (2017), "Comrade in America – CIA" (2017), and "Kumbalangi Nights". His lead role in "Sudani from Nigeria" (2018) earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor.
Born and raised in Fort Kochi, Kerala, Shahir hails from a family rooted in the film industry. His father, Babu Shahir, worked as an assistant director and production controller in several notable films. On December 16, 2017, Soubin Shahir tied the knot with Jamia Zaheer, a marketing professional based in Kochi. The couple welcomed their son in May 2019.
