Sachin Pilgaonkar, often known mononymously by his screen name Sachin, is an Indian actor, director, producer, writer and singer of Marathi and Hindi films. He has directed and acted in several Marathi films of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Sachin Pilgaonkar, widely known simply as Sachin, is an accomplished Indian film and television actor, director, singer, and producer. He began his career as a child actor in the Marathi film Ha Majha Marg Ekla (1962) and appeared in approximately 65 films as a child artist before transitioning to adult roles. Some of his notable performances as a lead actor include Geet Gaata Chal (1975), Balika Badhu (1976), Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978), and Nadiya Ke Paar (1982), all of which were significant successes. Over the years, Sachin has worked across Hindi, Marathi, and Bhojpuri cinema, contributing as an actor, producer, and director.
In Indian television, Sachin has made his mark with popular comedy shows like Tu Tu Main Main (2000) and Kadvee Khatti Meethi. He has also directed several successful Marathi films, starting with Mai Baap (1982) and followed by hits such as Navri Mile Navryala (1984), Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi (1988), Amchyasarkhe Aamich (1990), and Navra Mazha Navsacha (2004).
Sachin was born in Mumbai into a Konkani family from Pilgaon, Goa. His father, Sharad Pilgaonkar, managed a printing business in Mumbai and also worked as a film producer. Sachin is married to actress Supriya Pilgaonkar, whom he first directed in his debut Marathi film, Navri Mile Navryala (1984). Together, they have been a successful pair in Marathi cinema. The couple has a daughter, Shriya Pilgaonkar, who has followed in her parents' footsteps into the entertainment industry.
