Akkineni Naga Chaitanya is a renowned Indian actor who primarily appears in Telugu films. He began his acting career with the film Josh in 2009, and his breakthrough role was in Ye Maaya Chesave directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon in 2010. Chaitanya's most notable works include Premam, Majili, Venky Mama, Love Story, and Bangarraju. Chaitanya has received several film awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South, Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor, and SIIMA Award for Best Actor (Critics).
Chaitanya was born on November 23, 1986, in Hyderabad, to Akkineni Nagarjuna and Lakshmi Daggubati. His paternal grandfather, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and maternal grandfather, D. Ramanaidu, were both renowned figures in Telugu cinema. Chaitanya grew up in Chennai, where he attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and AMM School, before completing his graduation from St. Mary's College in Hyderabad. He received further training in acting, martial arts, voice, and dialogue coaching before making his acting debut.
Chaitanya began his career with Josh, where he played a college student. His breakthrough role was in Ye Maaya Chesave, where he played a Hindu Telugu assistant director who falls in love with a Christian Malayali girl. The film was a success, and he received a nomination for Filmfare Award South for Best Actor Male. He then appeared in successful films such as 100% Love, Tadakha, and Manam, along with few unsuccessful films. He also appeared in Bejawada, which received negative reviews.
Chaitanya's career fluctuated with few successes from 2013 to 2018, with Tadakha being one of his notable works during this period. He played the lead in Premam, which was a success, and Majili, which was a critical and commercial success. Chaitanya married actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu in October 2017, but they separated in October 2021.
