Jayaram has distinguished himself hailing from Tamil Nadu to doing and being a star of the south. He has not only made it big in film acting but also in the theatre stage for his comedy and poise in drama. He kick started his career in acting in the movie Aparan(1988) and then went on to put a stamp in the industry for his roles in family comedies and dramas. He has bagged two State Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards for Best Actor and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award. Jayaram is the recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri Award.
