Bio:

Danish Husain is the stage name of Murtaza Danish Husaini, an Indian actor, storyteller, poet and theatre director. He has also been credited as Dan Husain and Murtaza Danish Husain.

He began his career with Barry John and has collaborated with notable directors like Habib Tanvir, M.S. Sathyu, and Naseeruddin Shah. He revived the lost art of Urdu storytelling, Dastangoi, and runs The Hoshruba Repertory in Mumbai, producing plays such as Guards At The Taj and Qissa Urdu Ki Aakhiri Kitaab Ka (2017), as well as storytelling and poetry projects like Qissebaazi and Poetrification. His major films include Newton (2017), Soorma (2018), and Peepli Live (2010). Danish has received the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Award and the Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puruskar, which he returned in 2015.
