War 2 Movie Review: High on Action, Light on Logic
Modified On: 14 August 2025 | Reviewed By: Team MoviekoopRating:⭐⭐⭐ ★ ★ (3 / 5 ): Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR power this adrenaline-fuelled spy actioner packed with jaw-dropping stunts, exotic locales, and larger-than-life sequences. While the spectacle is undeniable, uneven pacing and narrative dips keep it from being a flawless thrill ride.

Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 raises the stakes with a gripping face-off between Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) and Raghu (Jr NTR) — childhood friends turned enemies — wrapped inside YRF’s ambitious spy universe. The film dazzles with scale, jaw-dropping action, and the magnetic star presence of its two leads.
War 2 Movie storyline: Former secret agent Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) is hired by a global crime syndicate, Kali, to assassinate India’s Prime Minister and destabilize the nation. In response, R&AW deploys Special Units Officer Vikram (Junior NTR) to stop him, aided by Wing Commander Kavya Luthra (Kiara Advani) and Chief Vikrant Kaul (Anil Kapoor).
War 2 Movie Review:
The film globe-trots from ice caves in Davos to pirate-infested waters in Somalia, from the buzzing streets of Spain to Indian military bases, delivering jaw-dropping action set pieces: a mid-air sword duel, a nerve-racking ambush, and the much-hyped dance face-off between Roshan and NTR that electrifies theatres.
Hrithik Roshan owns every frame with a magnetic intensity, while Jr NTR balances brute force with vulnerability, especially in moments where his character Raghu’s buried emotions resurface. Their chemistry — half rivalry, half brotherhood — is the true heartbeat of War 2.
Kiara Advani, as Wing Commander Kavya Luthra, holds her ground in both action and drama, though her arc deserved more depth. Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana add gravitas, while cameo appearances by other Spy Universe icons remind you that this is just one piece of a larger saga.

That said, the film isn’t flawless. The runtime feels stretched at nearly 3 hours, a few action blocks lean on CGI more than grit, and the music — usually a YRF strength — lacks the punch to elevate key moments. Some plot choices (like the overstuffed international backdrops) add gloss but dilute the narrative focus. The screenplay does stumble with pacing in the second half. But what the film lacks in rhythm, it compensates with scale, adrenaline, and the emotional undertone of friendship turned sour.
Verdict: War 2 is a larger-than-life spy drama that thrives on its stars and spectacle but occasionally gets bogged down by excess. Despite loopholes, it remains a high-adrenaline entertainer worth the big-screen experience.
