Jambu Circus Movie Review:Director MD Sridhar has always believed in the timeless appeal of drama. While many filmmakers chase new-age genres and experimental themes, Sridhar stays rooted in his comfort zone—family emotions, romance, friendships, and heartfelt sentiment. Jambu Circus reaffirms this belief, blending childhood bonds, youthful romance, and the inevitable bruises of family pride.

The story revolves around Murali (Achyuth Kumar) and Shankar (Ravi Shankar Gowda), inseparable friends who once shared dreams and secrets. Their friendship begins to strain when rivalry brews between their wives, passing bitterness down to the next generation. Ironically, their children Akash (Praveen Tej) and Ankita (Anjali Anish) fall in love, setting the stage for a clash between love and ego.

The film shines most in its campus sequences. Sridhar, known for youthful entertainers like Friends, Chellata, and Bulbul, once again captures the vibrancy of student life. The banter among the youngsters feels natural, the group dynamics warm, and touches of humour—like a cheeky Google Pay gag or Nayana’s cameo—add freshness. Even the staging of Shakuntala and Dushyanta within the story lends a playful, filmy charm.

However, the family conflict portions weigh the film down. The recurring quarrels between the mothers, cyclical grudges, and constant flare-ups stretch the narrative, making it feel longer than necessary. While Sridhar remains committed to melodrama, the balance between breezy campus fun and heavy household clashes isn’t always even. Still, an early twist lends some weight to the climax, even if the journey feels indulgent at times.

Performances keep the film grounded. Achyuth Kumar brings quiet dignity, while Ravi Shankar adds layers to his conflicted character. Praveen Tej and Anjali Anish lend youthful charm, ensuring the romance feels genuine. Swathi Gurudutt, Lakshmi Siddhaiah, Avinash, and Nayana fit seamlessly into their parts, rounding out an ensemble that makes Sridhar’s drama watchable even when the screenplay falters.

At its core, Jambu Circus asks a universal question: can childhood friendship survive the bruises of adulthood and the pride of families? Sridhar offers no absolute answers, delivering a story that is tender, fragile, and at times moving—much like the relationships it portrays.
