Vijay Deverakonda’s period drama Ranabaali, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Rahul Sankrityan, is set for a September 11 release.
Vijay Deverakonda’s next film has been officially titled Ranabaali, with the makers also announcing a September 11 theatrical release. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film marks Vijay’s reunion with the filmmaker after their successful collaboration on Taxiwaala (2018).
Rashmika Mandanna once again pairs up with Vijay Deverakonda after Geetha Govindam (2018) and Dear Comrade (2019). While Vijay plays the titular character Ranabaali, Rashmika will be seen as Jayamma. Adding an international dimension to the cast, Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo — best known for The Mummy franchise — essays the role of a British Raj officer, Sir Theodore Hector.
The makers also released a brief video revealing that Ranabaali is set between 1854 and 1878. Though not a biographical film, it is said to chronicle events and narratives that have remained absent from mainstream Indian history books.
Pramod Tammineni has contributed as a writer, while the film’s music is composed by Ajay–Atul. The technical team includes cinematographer Nirav Shah, editor Karthika Srinivas R, production designer Shivam Rao Nagasani, art director Vithal Kosanam, and action choreographers Yannick Ben, Andy Long Nguyen, and Rabin Subbu.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar, with Anurag Parvathaneni and Shiv Chanana as co-producers, Ranabaali is backed by Mythri Movie Makers. Netflix has acquired the film’s OTT rights, ensuring a digital release after its theatrical run.
