Sivaji-Laya’s crime comedy shifts from ETV Win OTT debut to theatres, locking March 6 as its new release date.
In a surprising turn of events, the makers of Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani have revised their release strategy. The crime comedy, which was initially slated for a direct OTT premiere on ETV Win on February 12, will now hit theatres first, with March 6 confirmed as the new release date.
The film marks the reunion of Sivaji and Laya after a long gap. Sivaji not only plays the lead role but has also produced the project. Earlier, Sivaji and ETV Win CEO Sai Krishna had jointly announced their plan to release the film directly on OTT, aiming to strengthen the platform’s original content slate. Despite consistent speculation about a theatrical outing, the team initially remained firm on the OTT route before eventually changing course.
Directed by Sudhir Sreeram, the film features a large ensemble cast of nearly 30 artistes, including Ali, Kamalakar, Dhanraj, and Roshan among others.
Sources reveal that director Anil Ravipudi played a key role in influencing the shift. Reportedly, Sivaji screened the film for him, and Anil was impressed enough to recommend a theatrical release. He is said to have even spoken to the ETV team, convincing them of the film’s potential on the big screen.
The makers also released a video featuring Sivaji, Sai Krishna, and distributor Vamsi Nandipati, addressing the change in plans. They cited overwhelming audience demand and numerous requests for a theatrical release as major factors behind the decision.
Additionally, Anil Ravipudi is believed to have spoken with distributors regarding the film’s business prospects. Distributors Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vasu have reportedly acquired the film’s distribution rights, further strengthening its theatrical prospects.
