Roshan’s Period Sports Drama ‘Champion’ Locks Christmas 2025 Release; Clashes with Adivi Sesh’s ‘Dacoit’

Roshan’s period sports drama Champion to release this Christmas, set for a box-office clash with Dacoit.
We had earlier reported that Roshan will headline the upcoming period sports drama Champion. The makers have now officially announced that the film will hit theatres on December 25, coinciding with Christmas 2025.
The first glimpse of Champion, unveiled in March on Roshan’s birthday, introduced audiences to a story set during British colonial rule, where football becomes a symbol of rebellion against oppression. The film also marks the Telugu debut of Malayalam actor Anaswara Rajan, best known for Super Sharanya.
Produced by Priyanka Dutt, GK Mohan, and Gemini Kiran under Swapna Cinemas, in association with Anandi Art Creations and Concept Films, the movie has Zee Studios onboard as presenter.
Champion is directed by Pradeep Advaitham, a debutant who previously wrote for the comic web series Save The Tigers. The technical team boasts notable names including cinematographer R Madhie, production designer Thota Tharani, and music director Mickey J Meyer, who last composed for HIT 3.
Roshan, son of veteran actor Meka Srikanth, made his debut with Pelli SandaD (2021). With Champion, he looks to redefine his career with a strong and socially charged narrative.
However, Champion will face stiff competition at the box office, as Adivi Sesh’s action thriller Dacoit, co-starring Mrunal Thakur and directed by Shaneil Deo, is also slated for a December 25 release. The Christmas lineup promises an exciting box-office battle between two highly anticipated Telugu films.
