Ahead of Sankranti, Ravi Teja reportedly sheds his ‘Mass Maharaja’ title for family drama BMW, signalling a strategic shift after recent box-office setbacks.

Ravi Teja is gearing up for a course correction with his upcoming Sankranti release BMW (Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignapthi), and the change may begin with his identity itself. According to reports, the actor has decided to drop his long-standing ‘Mass Maharaja’ tag for the film, choosing to be credited simply as Ravi Teja.

Industry insiders suggest this move comes in the wake of a series of underwhelming box-office outings. A distributor quoted in reports described the decision as “pragmatic and appreciable,” hinting that the actor is keen to realign audience expectations ahead of the release.

Directed by Kishore Tirumala, BMW is positioned as a clean, family-oriented entertainer—quite a departure from Ravi Teja’s recent mass-heavy action films. The film stars Ashika Ranganath and Dimple Hayathi as the female leads and is eyeing the lucrative Sankranti festive window.

Ravi Teja was last seen in Mass Jathara, an action drama where he played a railway officer battling corruption and crime. Despite the familiar mass setup and the presence of Sreeleela—reuniting with him after Dhamaka—the film received mixed reviews and failed to make a strong impact at the box office.

With BMW, Ravi Teja appears to be consciously stepping away from the “mass” image to reconnect with family audiences, making this Sankranti release a crucial test in his career reset.
