Pushpa Arun Kumar Ventures into Film Distribution with Ghaati

Actor Yash’s mother, Pushpa Arun Kumar—who earlier entered production with Pruthvi Ambaar starrer Kottalavadi—has now forayed into film distribution. She will distribute actress Anushka Shetty’s Telugu film Ghaati in Karnataka. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and produced by UV Creations, the film releases on September 5 under PA Productions and Sridhar Kripa Combines.

Speaking at a press meet, Pushpa said, “Anushka feels like family to us. I will continue distributing good films in the future. Ghaati will release across more than 100 theatres, and I am solely handling its distribution. This is my first Telugu project. Depending on its success, I’ll also take up Kannada dubbed films. Since Kottalavadi faced theatre issues, I decided to handle distribution myself. It’s important to support women who step into such roles.”

Director Krish described the film as a story set on the Andhra–Odisha border. “People living in the hill regions there are called Ghaatis. Remarkably, each of them can carry loads of 120–150 kg while climbing mountains. Unfortunately, many are exploited for smuggling cannabis. Our film attempts to tell their story. Anushka plays Sheelavati, while Vikram Prabhu appears as Desiraju,” he explained.
