The Raja Saab delay wasn’t due to Prabhas’ schedule but major VFX issues, says producer TG Vishwa Prasad; now set for release on Jan 9, 2026.

After months of speculation over The Raja Saab’s multiple postponements, producer TG Vishwa Prasad has finally addressed the real reason behind the delay — and it’s not Prabhas’ busy schedule. The People Media Factory head revealed that the setback was caused by severe issues in the film’s visual effects (VFX) department.

In a recent interview, Vishwa Prasad explained that a senior VFX supervisor, hired to oversee the project’s extensive visual work, failed to deliver for several months. “We were supposed to release the film in April 2025, but the supervisor didn’t do any of the work until October 2024,” he said. The technician was reportedly preoccupied with other projects like Pushpa 2, stalling progress on The Raja Saab.

The situation worsened when the supervisor allegedly became “difficult to work with” and even threatened to quit when asked for updates. Though Vishwa Prasad refrained from naming the individual, he hinted that the same person was recently removed from SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film. “He was taking a monthly fee for his team but not delivering output. Someday, I’ll show him what the fee is for his extortion,” the producer quipped.

While Vishwa Prasad didn’t confirm any names, online speculation points to veteran VFX artist Kamal Kannan. To prevent further issues, People Media Factory has since set up its own in-house VFX division, which is now handling both Mirai and The Raja Saab.

Directed by Maruthi and co-produced by IVY Entertainment, The Raja Saab is a horror-comedy featuring Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan (in her Telugu debut), and Riddhi Kumar. Initially planned for an April 2025 release, the film is now scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on January 9, 2026, coinciding with the Sankranti festival.
