Mowgli Shifts Release to Dodge Direct Clash with Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2

With the makers of Akhanda 2 finalizing December 12 as their release date after resolving legal issues with Eros, the Telugu film industry is witnessing swift reshuffling of schedules. While Psych Siddhartha postponed its release by three weeks, the team behind Mowgli has opted for a different strategy.

Initially planned for a December 12 worldwide release, Mowgli will now hit theatres on December 13, effectively avoiding a head-on clash with Akhanda 2. However, the team has confirmed that premiere shows will still be held on December 12, though the scale and rollout of these screenings remain undisclosed.

Directed by Colour Photo filmmaker Sandeep Raj, Mowgli stars Roshan Kanakala, Sakkshi Mhadolkar, and Bandi Saroj Kumar. The film is produced by People Media Factory, with music composed by Kaala Bhairava.

The sudden preponing of Akhanda 2 is expected to create financial and logistical strain across the industry, forcing several teams to revise marketing and release plans. In a heartfelt social media note, Sandeep Raj expressed disappointment that Mowgli cannot secure an ideal release window despite the team’s hard work. Earlier, actor Bandi Saroj Kumar criticised the Akhanda 2 team for announcing their date late, causing monetary stress to films that had already locked December 12 weeks in advance.
