Vijay’s Farewell Film ‘Jana Nayagan’ Sets Records with ₹325 Cr Pre-Release Business!

Thalapathy Vijay’s swansong, Jana Nayagan, is already making history ahead of its release. The much-awaited political action drama, directed by H. Vinoth, has reportedly crossed ₹325 crore in pre-release business — an extraordinary feat that cements Vijay’s stardom even before the film hits theatres.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan fetched ₹80 crore from overseas rights, ₹35 crore from audio rights, and ₹110 crore from digital streaming rights. The total is expected to rise further once the satellite rights are finalised, potentially making it one of the highest pre-release earners in Indian cinema.

For perspective, Pushpa 2: The Rule leads with a staggering ₹1000 crore pre-release business, while Rajinikanth’s 2.0 holds the Tamil cinema record.

Featuring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol (in his Tamil debut), Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain, Jana Nayagan is produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions, with Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith NK as co-producers. The film is slated for a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026 — marking Vijay’s final bow before stepping fully into politics.
