Vijay Antony’s Nooru Saami Set for June 19 Release; Reunites Actor with Director Sasi After a Decade

Actor-composer Vijay Antony is set to return to the big screen with Nooru Saami, which has now locked June 19 as its theatrical release date. The film marks Vijay Antony’s reunion with filmmaker Sasi a decade after their successful collaboration on Pichaikkaran.

Inspired by a true incident, Nooru Saami is described by its makers as “a journey of blood, sweat, and bonds.” The title itself is drawn from the popular song Nooru Saami from Pichaikkaran, further linking the new project to the duo’s earlier hit.

The recently released teaser suggests that the story is set in a deeply conservative village governed by rigid caste and religious traditions. At the centre of the narrative is a young woman, played by Swasika, who faces social ostracism after being accused of bringing shame to her community. While the exact circumstances remain under wraps, the teaser hints at a powerful drama exploring prejudice, relationships, and resilience.

Alongside Vijay Antony and Swasika, the film stars Lijomol Jose and Ajay Dhishan in key roles. The supporting cast includes Balaji Sakthivel, Munishkanth, Aruldoss, Bagavathi Perumal, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Abinaya and Subramania Siva, among others.

The technical crew features music composer Balaji Sriram, cinematographer SB Darshan Kirlosh and editor Harish Yuvaraj. The film is produced by Fatima Vijay Antony and Vijay Antony under the banner of Vijay Antony Film Corporation.

Following his recent appearances in Shakthi Thirumagan and Pookie, Vijay Antony will next be seen in Lawyer, directed by Joshua Sethuraman. Meanwhile, Sasi returns to direction after Sivappu Manjal Pachai.

With its emotionally charged premise and social backdrop, Nooru Saami is shaping up to be one of the notable Tamil releases of the season.
