Suriya’s Upcoming Film Retro Set for May 1, 2025, Release

Actor Suriya’s much-anticipated 44th film, Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, will hit theatres worldwide on May 1, 2025. The announcement was made by the filmmaker on social media, accompanied by a striking poster showcasing Suriya in a gritty new avatar.

In the recently unveiled first-look teaser, Suriya portrays a reformed gangster who abandons his violent past for love. The teaser begins with a serene moment featuring Suriya and his love interest, played by Pooja Hegde, on the ghats of Varanasi. Promising to leave behind his life of "violence, rowdyism, and hooliganism," Suriya proposes to Pooja, setting the stage for a story of transformation.

Flashbacks interspersed throughout the teaser hint at his dark past, showing intense scenes of combat, anger, and rebellion. Alongside Suriya and Pooja, the film boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Nasser.

Karthik Subbaraj, known for acclaimed films like Jigarthanda and Petta, helms the project. Meanwhile, Suriya is also collaborating with RJ Balaji for his 45th film. His recent release, Kanguva, directed by Siva, hit theatres on November 14, adding to the actor’s impressive repertoire.
